CHAMPION OF DIVERSE STORIES

DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIST ✦ PRODUCER ✦ CHAMPION OF DIVERSE STORIES ✦

Development Strategist

Dale A. Mott is a Tony Award–winning producer and development strategist whose 30-year career spans the arts, international development, and cultural leadership. His work is defined by a consistent throughline: elevating underrepresented voices, building institutions with integrity, and investing in stories that shift culture.

Before turning his full attention to producing, Dale held senior leadership roles in development at some of the world’s most respected institutions, including the Smithsonian Institution, The Phillips Collection, and the global humanitarian organization CARE. There, he led transformative fundraising and advancement strategies that deepened public engagement and expanded access, always with an eye toward equity, representation, and lasting impact.

But Dale’s connection to the arts is lifelong. He found himself in the halls, rehearsal rooms and leadership of two of America’s most vital regional theaters: Penumbra Theatre Company and Arena Stage. These experiences grounded his understanding of theater not only as an art form, but as a civic act—an engine for action, reflection, healing, and change.

Award-winning Producer and Founder/CEO, Edgewood

In 2017, Dale completed the Commercial Theater Institute’s intensive training program and co-produced his first Broadway show, The Lifespan of a Fact. Shortly thereafter, he founded Edgewood, a theatrical producing and investment company dedicated to supporting the voices of those too often left out of the spotlight and investing in work that resonates far beyond the stage.

The name is a tribute to Camp Edgewood, a Boy Scout camp in Louisiana where Dale spent summers as a Scout and later as a counselor. Those formative experiences instilled in him the values of empathy, leadership, and community—principles that continue to guide his work today.

Champion OF
DIVERSE STORIES

A fierce advocate for accessibility and clearer pathways to success, Dale champions current and future theater professionals and audiences. He proudly supports the Theatre Development Fund (TDF), which makes Broadway and off-Broadway accessible to all, and the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, better known as the Jimmy Awards, a program that spotlights exceptional young performers and propels them onto national stages.

He is also a founding board member of the Blue Roses Project, a not‑for‑profit incubator providing queer artists a platform to develop timely new plays that speak to life in America; is a member of the LGBTQ+ Committee of the Greater New Orleans Foundation; and a dues-paying member of both the Broadway League and the Drama League.

What sets Dale apart is not just his professional achievements, but the way he operates: with warmth, poise, and an unshakable sense of integrity. He brings strategic clarity, cultural depth, and true partnership to every story he helps bring to life.

Dale believes in theater’s power to reflect who we are—and to imagine who we could become. He’s building the stage it deserves.
